Information Technology Director - IT Director

 

Job Description:  The Information Technology Director is responsible for the overall planning, organizing, and execution of all IT functions in Amory School District. This includes directing all IT operations to meet educational requirements as well as the support and maintenance of existing applications and development of new technical solutions.  The Director will manage all employees in Amory School District’s Information Technology Department and is responsible for the performance management of the employees within that department. The Director will also work with district personnel and vendors to prioritize, schedule, organize, and provide technical assistance so that faculty will have operational equipment, training and assistance as needed to effectively complete their job.

 

 

Education and/or Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science or minimum of three (1) year experience in a school district. 2.  Professional certifications are desirable:  Include with your resume.
  2. Experience in the most current technologies and products used in education.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including servers, PCs, operating systems, telephones, software applications, wireless solutions and peripherals.
2. Provide expertise and support during systems upgrades, installations, conversions and file maintenance.
3. Manage IT staff, including hiring, training, evaluation, guidance, discipline and discharge.
4. Develop standard operating procedures and best practices, including providing written protocols and guidance to IT staff and to end-users.
5. Ensure the creation and maintenance of all written documentation, including system and user manuals, license agreements, and documentation of modifications and upgrades.
6. Oversee provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.
7. Keep current with the latest technologies and determine what new technology solutions and implementations will meet educational and system requirements.
8. Manage financial aspects of the IT Division, including writing specifications, purchasing, budgeting, and budget review.
9. Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, guidelines, purchasing, and service provision.
10. Manage servers, security solutions, network hardware and equipment.
11. Manage telecommunications infrastructure and development plans, projects, policies and procedures.
12. Negotiate and administer vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and service agreements.
13. Support the district’s overall mission and follow all standards, policies, procedures, and confidentiality guidelines.

 

 

Qualifications:

Knowledge: A thorough understanding of the following is vital

Successful experience configurating, updating, and maintaining Brocade network switches.

Experience with Fortinet Fortigate Firewalls—configuration, upgrade and support.

Experience with IP camera Systems and VOIP systems.

Experience with Google for Education Suite

Experience with troubleshooting, installing, and configuring Chromebooks, PCs, printers, TVs, projectors, document cameras, Microsoft servers, copiers and creating, upgrading and supporting virtual servers.

Experience with WiFi solutions such as Ubiquiti

Experience with Microsoft Server.

Experience with Hyper-V

Experience in creating, monitoring and updating Cybersecurity policies, procedures, standards and guidelines.

Familiar with online software used in schools such as MSIS and Sam’s Gradebook and computer software programs used in classrooms.

Experience with configuring, updating and maintaining Linewize filtering device.  

Experience with troubleshooting PCs__Windows OS 11 and 10, MACs, Ipads, Chromebooks,  tablets, network printers, TVs, projectors and wireless access points.
